David and Maria A. Muhammad are a powerhouse couple committed to community empowerment and environmental stewardship. Married for 32 years, they've raised three children and are proud grandparents to three grandchildren. Affectionately known as Auntie and Uncle to dozens, as well as Great Auntie and uncle and Great, Great Auntie and uncle, they've touched the lives of many as godparents to over ten children.
As dedicated community organizers and catalysts, David and Maria serve as I AM Green, Inc.'s CEO and COO, respectively. They are also the visionary founders of 'The Grove in Freedom Village, GA,' a black-owned Eco-Village and Town that fosters sustainable living and community resilience.
In addition to their leadership roles, David and Maria are accomplished poets, writers, and authors, channeling their creativity into inspiring others to embrace a #DopeAzzGreenLife. Their extensive experience in food security spans over 30 years, having worked tirelessly in Los Angeles, Baltimore, and San Diego to provide access to nutritious food for all.
As passionate advocates for green jobs and environmental literacy, they are actively involved as students of Environmental Science, facilitators of Environmental Literacy, and champions for community resilience. They also serve as farmers and land stewards, nurturing the earth and promoting sustainable agriculture.
David and Maria's expertise extends to disaster preparedness, conflict resolution, and non-violent crisis intervention, reflecting their unwavering commitment to building safer, more resilient communities. Through their collective efforts, they strive to create a world where everyone can thrive in harmony with nature.
